Description: The Garden Educator is responsible for overseeing the implementation and success of MSTFP curriculum and school garden lessons within the Montezuma-Cortez school district. The Garden Educator will work closely with the Executive Director and Education Director to meet the teaching requirements, develop and implement programs, supervise AmeriCorps service members, and meet other organizational needs to ensure the success of MSTFP programs.

About Montezuma School to Farm Project:
Founded in 2009, MSTFP is an innovative initiative dedicated to integrating agricultural education into the school curriculum in Montezuma County, Colorado. As an independent 501(c)(3) organization, we operate in several schools, offering experiential learning opportunities in school gardens. Our mission is to connect students with their local agricultural heritage, food production, and environmental conservation, engaging thousands of students annually.
We are seeking a passionate and experienced Gardener to join our team. This role involves maintaining and developing our school gardens. The ideal candidate will have a deep appreciation for food production and a minimum of 2 years of related experience.
Maintain school gardens across various locations in Montezuma County. Tasks include planting, weeding, general maintenance, harvesting, and weekly distribution.
Work collaboratively with educators to create a vibrant, educational, and productive garden space.
3. Implement organic gardening practices, ensuring a safe and nurturing environment for students.
4. Assist in teaching students basic gardening skills and knowledge about sustainable food systems.
5. Coordinate with the MSTFP team to plan and execute garden-based educational activities.
Proven experience in gardening, landscaping, or horticulture.
Knowledge of organic gardening practices and sustainable agriculture.
Ability to work with diverse age groups, especially children in PreK to 8th grade.
Physical fitness to perform gardening tasks and work in various weather conditions.
Strong communication and teamwork skills.
This is a seasonal position, with the duration and specific months dependent on the school calendar and gardening seasons. Salary is competitive and commensurate with experience.
